My wife and I moved up to Morecambe from London in July, and we love it! It's great to be near the sea, with the beautiful view, and to be in an area where things are happening to improve the feel of the place. We love the prom and the stone jetty, and West End Gardens with its huge picture frame. Our family who have visited us, have all been very impressed with what's going on here. Put it this way, we don't miss London!

We often visit Morecambe and like to stay in the area for several weeks in the summer. This year we were delighted to see the renovation in the West End. I spent many happy childhood years in this area of town and its good to see it getting back on its feet again. It will look tons better when the old church gets something done with it.
My husband and I love Morecambe so much we hope to move there some day.Meanwhile we've set up a message forum at morecambe-bayweb.proboards.com to hopefully keep in touch with the area when we are not there. We would love more people to come and join us.

It is really good seeing Morecambe coming to life again, the Midland Hotel looks really good, however I believe we should bring things back for the children such as Bubbles. I have very fond memories of Bubbles, and this was a very good place to come during the summer. We need more things for children to enjoy.

I am retiring in July and I have been coming to Morecambe since I was 9 years old. I have a caravan near carnforth and I think the regeneration into morecambe is amazing. I hope the council will bring in more up to date shops.

The last time I was in Morecambe was 5 years ago, and boy, what a dump. Morecambe Bay has one of the finest views in the UK, yet it has been spoilt by a town that has suffered years of under-investment and neglect. The West End became a dumping ground for homeless drug addicts, thereby increasing local crime rates. It became a 1 horse town with a 1 way in and a 1 way out over the Skerton Bridge bottleneck.
I shall be visiting in August and look forward to seeing the re-generated Midland Hotel along with all the other improvements that have occured. About time too.

My partner and I relocated from sunny Devon in july last year. We moved to Morecambe after visiting briefly in the March. We were so impressed by the regeneration projects all going on, and the passion of Urban SPlash and their revamped Mildand Hotel, we put our house on the market and bought one in West End which is a good 4 - 5 times the size we had in Devon for less money! I hope that all this work which is going on with revamped gardens, parks, beaches and buildings etc will attract more families to the area, and more importantly I hope that the new refreshed Morecambe will be looked after and maintained - afterall we don't want the area to go through another delcine in years to come. All in all, we're very happy we made the move, a fabulous seaside resort with the city shopping of Lancaster & even Manchester just down the motorway and the wonderful lake district on the edge of our doorstep.

Based on the obvious regeneration of the area, the investment obviously being put into the area and the will of the people living there - I have made the decision to relocate to Morecambe from the south of England. Yes, this is a bit of a lifestyle move for my wife and I , but having gained employment at the soon to be marvellous Midland Hotel, knowing the developers passion, seeing the place for myself and the quality of housing, it is non the less where I have decided to locate and raise my family. This should only come as encouraging news to you all, and having now found this website I am sure I made the right choice. In some years from now you will all be basking in the glory of a great town, a new morecambe not a regenerated old one, and a place where people want to live and work. From an 'outsiders' point of view, its obvious. Blindingly obvious that it rates among the best up and coming places to go right now and get in from the start. Hope you all welcome me to your area of course!!!
Morecambe needs to be a new Morecambe, and not a relaunch of the old morecambe. Morecambe from the Victorian era is gone, the 60's and 70's are history. The time is now, and Morecambe in the 2000's looks bright and promising.
I look forward to joining your community immensely.
