Watch the Movie on Morecambe

A film to promote the positive improvements in Morecambe has been produced and has been sent all over the country.
Winning Back Morecambe’s West End and Poulton Neighbourhood Management commissioned the film to raise awareness of all the regeneration that has taken place over the last 5 years and to celebrate the communities’ achievement in taking part.
The film contains scenes from some of last years community events including the Kite Festival and the Tutti Frutti 1950s Festival, and lots of local people are interviewed on how they have been involved in the regeneration efforts. There are scenes including local landmarks such as the West End Gardens, the Winter Gardens and the Midland Hotel.
The film is available to watch on the internet by clicking here.

Ministerial Visit

Iain Wright MP recently visited Morecambe to find out more about the ongoing regeneration.

Iain is Parliamentary under Secretary of State and has responsibility for providing support on all aspects of Government housing policy and programmes and physical and housing related regeneration.
The reason for visiting Morecambe was to find out more about the shared ownership scheme that is available with Adactus Housing Group.  He also took the opportunity to visit other regeneration schemes in Morecambe including the Home Zone, Fisherman’s Square and the cottages and businesses that have benefited from improvements from the Townscape Heritage Initiative.
On a visit to Clarendon Road, Iain was very interested an impressed with the remodelled Houses of Multiple Occupation into modern apartments available for shared ownership. A resident now living in one of the renovated properties shared their positive experience with Iain.
On a walking tour of the West End, he also learned about the future plans for the Chatsworth Gardens scheme, Marlborough Road and Bold Street and proposals for the Central Park development.
We hope that he will take some valuable information about our successes and difficulties back to the government to inform future housing and regeneration policies.

Help to spring clean Regent Park

the Friends of Regent Park are appealing for local residents to join in with a spring clean in the park on Saturday 28th June from 10am.
Come along and help prepare the park for our summer festivals by repainting the planters, weeding the old tennis courts, weeding the rose bushes and footpaths and litter picking.
Bring along friends and family- all help will be gratefully received.
Lancaster City Council Direct Services have helped to organise this event and will be on hand to oversee the clean up.
