Welcome to Winning Back Morecambe's West End

The coastal defence improvements ‘Information Centre’ on the Battery Breakwater Car Park is now open.

Members of the public can visit the Information Centre and look at the exciting plans for the coastal defence improvements. There are also displays of interesting historical information on coastal protection and there is a display featuring details of the Winning Back Morecambe’s West End project. The information will be updated as the scheme progresses. Members of the public are offered the opportunity to give feedback and leave comments in the guest book.

The centre will be open to members of the public from Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm.

Sadly, the funding for the Street Warden Service runs out in September. They are to be replaced by Community Support Officers who will be involved with environmental matters like the wardens but they will also have other duties related to police issues such as dealing with anti-social behaviour.

We hope to have a very productive relationship with the CSO’s and look forward to being engaged in joint pieces of work.

We would also like to recognise the extremely hard work done by the Street Warden Service over the last four years and on behalf of ourselves and the community, we would like to offer them our thanks and appreciation. They have become familiar ‘friends on the streets’ and have made a real difference in addressing key areas of Morecambe’s regeneration. It is anticipated that the new CSO’s will carry those skills forward.
