What is the Home Support Service?
Home Support can offer advice, guidance and support to anyone who may find themselves experiencing difficulties with their accommodation or everyday living situation. The support team can offer regular planned support until these difficulties have been overcome.
Originally the home support service was set up in March 2003 to provide help and advice to residents of the Poulton area of Morecambe. Since then due to the success and commitment of the home support workers we have been able to extend the service district wide. Debbie Stewart and Liz Barker are both home support workers whose aim is to improve the quality of people's lives by helping them to access community facilities and services and promote independent living. We have been instrumental in helping people remain in their own homes and resettling people into new homes.
Liz and Debbie will be working closely with The Winning Back Morecambe’s West End team, providing advice and support to people whose lives may be affected during this period of change. The home support team have supported several clients from the affected properties in the West End of Morecambe.

The stress on Cheryl and her family was greatly reduced by the support given by Liz Barker and the family are now happily resettled. Cheryl said "Liz gave me confidence during a very stressful time for me and my family and I really appreciated her support. I could not have done it without her"
James Mason, who has lived in the West End of Morecambe for some years in very poor housing, was offered support when his landlord sold the property in which he lived. Debbie Stewart helped him to move into more suitable accommodation and with her advice and support he is now happily resettled. Mr Mason said, "I would like to say that the help I have been given has been absolutely brilliant. All the staff I have seen have been very helpful. Debbie has done everything possible to help me and alleviate the stress of moving. I am very happy in my new home"
